John Dillard CPA lives with his wife where they are active in GROWING their faith. They have two children who are grown and successful. John is a native of Atlanta and has practiced as a CPA for thirty years and his firm tailors their services to the needs of business clients as a Virtual CFO/CPA.
While graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1979 from Georgia State University with a BBA in Accounting he was named to two honor societies, he also received the Upcoming Junior Award and passing most of the CPA exam in school. His work career began with the international CPA firm Touche Ross & Co. for whom he worked in the audit department. For ten years thereafter, he worked as an accountant with several firms while climbing up the corporate ladder. Since then he has worked on his own as a CPA for business owners and recently started a new CPA firm and partnership called HIS CPA, P.C. John won the Georgia 1999 Accounting Advocate of the year Award for his contribution to the business community and served on the Board of Directors for the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce where he was a member for 26 years. Frequently giving speeches and having written articles for publication, he gives back to the community that he feels so blessed to have been raised in. John assisted in having the Georgia State Supreme Court overturn the Georgia Trade Secrets Act of 1990.
Recently John felt God’s calling and set out and changed Georgia state law by passage of the Crime Victims Act of 2005 which requires people committing major crimes against children to pay for their medical and counseling care. He completed Theological Foundations for Leaders, and led a bible study group at a senior living home. His current passion, and that of his family, is serving the Navajo people in Pueblo Pintodo, New Mexico, where they focus on Vacation Bible School, Bible study, seniors and construction.
John’s father Hoyt Dillard was an aspiring author who led John to this part of their family’s legacy. Speaking loud and boldly, John believes that Christ alone is the centerpiece and the capstone of Christianity. Exhorting others to speak boldly of their faith while doing so himself, John looks to fulfill the Great Commission at home in the community where he works as well as abroad. He and his family recently completed their first mission trip and have recently signed up for their second and he and his wife Tami jointly committed to pursuing God as the head of their home.
In 2009, John was one of 90 nominated authors for the 45th Annual Georgia Author of the Year Award, presented by the Georgia Writers Association. John joined other nominees that include former GAYA winners, a Pulitzer prize winner, a former President, university professors, an award winning screenwriter and other freelance writers..
